XIII. The "Battle of
Armageddon" is yet to be fulfilled.
- What can be known about this since the ONLY place this term is found is in
Revelation 16:16?
Revelation 16:16
And he gathered them together into a
PLACE
called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.
(KJV)
It is a place where a great battle will be fought.
Revelation 16:14
For they are the spirits of devils, working
miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole
world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty. (KJV)
- "Armageddon"
= is a vast plain or valley at the foot of Mount Megiddo where many decisive
battles in the history of Israel have been fought.
- It is used in Revelation 16:16 as a symbolic
name.
- In Hebrew, it is called "har-megiddon"
since "har" = mount and "megiddon" =
rendezvous. This comes from a Hebrew word gadad {gaw-dad} which
means to crowd; assemble selves by troops; to gash by pressing into.
- There are two (2) valleys located at the foot of Mt.
Megiddo. These are the "Valley of Jezreel," and "The Plain of
Esdraelon."
- "Jezreel" =God will sow.
"Esdraelon" = the name of the great plain which breaks the
Central range of Palestine in two; It is also called "the plain
of Jezreel." The term, "Esdraelon" is not found in the
Bible.
- This vast valley/plain affords a direct connection
between the maritime plain and the Jordan valley. It lies between Galilee on
the North & Samaria on the South.
- The Prophetic nature of this valley of Jezreel, called
"Armageddon."
- Jehovah God told Hosea to name his first born Son, "Jezreel."
Hosea 1:2-5
The beginning of the word of the LORD by
Hosea. And the LORD said to Hosea, Go, take unto thee a wife of whoredoms
and children of whoredoms: for the land hath committed great whoredom, departing
from the LORD. 3So he went and took Gomer the daughter of
Diblaim; which conceived, and bare him a son. 4And the LORD said
unto him, Call his name Jezreel; for yet a little while, and I
will avenge the blood of Jezreel upon the house of Jehu, and will cause to
cease the kingdom of the house of Israel. 5And it shall come to
pass at that day, that I will break the bow of Israel in the valley of
Jezreel. (KJV)
- Jehovah God told Hosea to name his (?) second Son (probably
not
the Father) "Loammi."
Hosea 1:8-11
Now when she had weaned Loruhamah, she
conceived, and bare a son. 9Then said God, Call his name
Loammi: for ye are not my people, and I will not be your God.
10Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand
of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to
pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not
my people, there it shall be said unto them, Ye are the sons
of the living God. 11Then shall the children of Judah and the
children of Israel be gathered together, and appoint themselves one head,
and they shall come up out of the land: for great shall be the day
of Jezreel. (KJV)
Hosea 3:4-5
For the children of Israel shall
abide many days without a king, and without a prince, and without a
sacrifice, and without an image, and without an ephod, and without teraphim:
5Afterward shall the children of Israel return, and seek
the LORD their God, and David their king; and shall fear the LORD and his
goodness in the latter days. (KJV)
Hosea 5:14-15
For I will be unto Ephraim as a lion, and as
a young lion to the house of Judah: I, even I, will tear and go away; I will
take away, and none shall rescue him. 15I will go and
return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face:
in their affliction they will seek me early. (KJV)
- These events seem to take place during the Great Tribulation & at
the return of Jesus in the clouds.
Zechariah 12:9-14
And it shall come to pass in that day,
that
I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. 10And
I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem,
the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me
whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his
only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in
bitterness for his firstborn. 11In that day shall
there be a great mourning in Jerusalem, as the mourning of Hadadrimmon in
the valley of Megiddon. 12And the land shall mourn, every
family apart; the family of the house of David apart, and their wives apart;
the family of the house of Nathan apart, and their wives apart; 13The
family of the house of Levi apart, and their wives apart; the family of
Shimei apart, and their wives apart; 14All the families that
remain, every family apart, and their wives apart. (KJV)
"Hadadrimmon"
= the place in the valley of Megiddo where Josiah, king of Judah was killed.
Revelation 1:7
Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye
shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of
the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
Matthew 24:29-31
Immediately after the tribulation of those days
shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the
stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
30And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in
heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth MOURN, and they shall
see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great
glory. 31And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a
trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four
winds, from one end of heaven to the other. (KJV)
- Jezreel means "to sow" and The LORD says He will
"sow" Israel unto Him in that day.
Sow = zara {zaw-rah’} = to
sow; plant; fructify.
Hosea 2:18-23
And in that day will I make a covenant
for them with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven, and with
the creeping things of the ground: and I will break the bow and the sword and
the battle out of the earth, and will make them to lie down safely. 19And
I will betroth thee unto me for ever; yea, I will betroth thee unto me
in righteousness, and in judgment, and in lovingkindness, and in mercies. 20I
will even betroth thee unto me in faithfulness: and thou shalt know the LORD.
21And
it shall come to pass in that day, I will hear, saith the LORD, I will hear
the heavens, and they shall hear the earth; 22And the earth shall
hear the corn, and the wine, and the oil; and they shall hear Jezreel.
23And
I will sow her unto me in the earth; and I will have mercy upon her
that had not obtained mercy; and I will say to them which were not my people,
Thou
art my people; and they shall say, Thou art my God. (KJV)
- These scriptures SEEM to place this battle of Armageddon at the time of
"Jacob’s trouble;" also called, "the tribulation, the
great;" & the days of vengeance.
Jeremiah 30:1-7
The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD,
saying, 2Thus speaketh the LORD God of Israel, saying, Write thee all
the words that I have spoken unto thee in a book. 3For, lo, the days
come, saith the LORD, that I will bring again the captivity of my people Israel
and Judah, saith the LORD: and I will cause them to return to the land that I
gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it. 4And these are
the
words that the LORD spake concerning Israel and concerning Judah. 5For
thus saith the LORD; We have heard a voice of trembling, of fear, and not of
peace. 6Ask ye now, and see whether a man doth travail with child?
wherefore do I see every man with his hands on his loins, as a woman in travail,
and all faces are turned into paleness? 7Alas! for that day is great,
so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble;
but he shall be saved out of it. (KJV)
Luke 21:20-22
And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed
with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. 21Then
let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which
are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries
enter thereinto. 22For these be the days of vengeance, that all
things which are written may be fulfilled. (KJV)
Matthew 24:29
Immediately after the tribulation
of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,
and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be
shaken: (KJV)
Zechariah 14:1-7
Behold, the day of the LORD cometh,
and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. 2For I will
gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and
the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth
into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the
city. 3Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations,
as when he fought in the day of battle. 4And his feet shall stand in
that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east,
and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and
toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the
mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. 5And
ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the
mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before
the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall
come, and all the saints with thee. 6And it shall come to pass
in that day, that the light shall not be clear, nor dark: 7But
it shall be one day which shall be known to the LORD, not day, nor night: but it
shall come to pass, that at evening time it shall be light. (KJV)
Isaiah 13:4-13
The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like
as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered
together: the LORD of hosts mustereth the host of the battle. 5They
come from a far country, from the end of heaven, even the LORD, and the weapons
of his indignation, to destroy the whole land. 6Howl ye; for the day of the LORD
is at hand; it shall come
as a destruction from the Almighty. 7Therefore shall all hands be
faint, and every man's heart shall melt: 8And they shall be afraid:
pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that
travaileth: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames.
9Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and
fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof
out of it. 10For the stars of heaven and the constellations
thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going
forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine. 11And I will
punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I
will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness
of the terrible. 12I will make a man more precious than fine gold;
even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir. 13Therefore I will shake
the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of
the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger. (KJV)
Haggai 2:5-7
According to the word that I covenanted
with
you when ye came out of Egypt, so my spirit remaineth among you: fear ye not.
6For
thus saith the LORD of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I
will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land; 7And
I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come:
and I will fill this house with glory, saith the LORD of hosts. (KJV)
Joel 3:14-16
Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of
decision:
for the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision. 15The
sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining.
16The
LORD also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the
heavens and the earth shall shake: but the LORD will be the hope of his
people, and the strength of the children of Israel. (KJV)
"decision"
= Heb. = concision; cutting.(a root word of Megiddo).
Hebrews 12:26-27 Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he
hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also
heaven. 27And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing
of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that
those things which cannot be shaken may remain. (KJV)
Ezekiel 38:14-23 Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say unto Gog, Thus saith the Lord GOD; In
that day when my people of Israel dwelleth safely, shalt thou not know it?
15And thou shalt come from thy place out of the north parts,
thou, and many people with thee, all of them riding upon horses, a great
company, and a mighty army: 16And thou shalt come up against my
people of Israel, as a cloud to cover the land; it shall be in the latter
days, and I will bring thee against my land, that the heathen may know me,
when I shall be sanctified in thee, O Gog, before their eyes. 17Thus
saith the Lord GOD; Art thou he of whom I have spoken in old time by my
servants the prophets of Israel, which prophesied in those days many years
that I would bring thee against them? 18And it shall come to pass at
the same time when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, saith the Lord
GOD, that my fury shall come up in my face. 19For in my
jealousy and in the fire of my wrath have I spoken, Surely in that day
there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel; 20So that
the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the field,
and all creeping things that creep upon the earth, and all the men that are
upon
the face of the earth, shall shake at my presence, and the mountains shall be
thrown down, and the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the
ground. 21And I will call for a sword against him throughout all my
mountains, saith the Lord GOD: every man's sword shall be against his brother.
22And
I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon
him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an
overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone. 23Thus
will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of
many nations, and they shall know that I am the LORD. (KJV)
Joel 3:1-2
For, behold, in those days, and in that time,
when
I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem, 2I
will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of
Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for
my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the
nations, and parted my land. (KJV) Jehoshaphat=God is Judge.
Revelation 16:12-16
And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the
great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of
the kings of the east might be prepared. 13And I saw three
unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out
of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14For
they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the
kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that
great day of God Almighty. 15Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is
he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see
his shame. 16And he gathered them together into a place called in
the Hebrew tongue Armageddon. (KJV)
Revelation 20:7-9 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan
shall be loosed out of his prison, 8And shall go out to deceive
the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to
gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
9And
they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints
about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and
devoured them.
(The 1,000 years = symbolic for the "times of the Gentiles;" –
the Church age) JESUS is reigning over His Kingdom which He has purchased
for The Father with His very own precious blood.)
1 Corinthians 15:24-28 Then cometh the end,
when he shall have delivered up the kingdom
to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority
and power. 25For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies
under his feet. 26The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
27For
he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put
under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under
him. 28And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then
shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under
him, that God may be all in all. (KJV)
