Unfulfilled Prophecies & Events Yet to Come

XI. The Tribulation, The Great, comes before the saved are taken up!
  1. Caught up = G-726 = harpazo {har-pad’-zo} used 5 times in the N.T. used as follows:

1 Thess 4:17
= 'arpagreso’metha = 1perf. Pl. fut. 2 ind. Pass.
= "shall be caught up" from a derivative, G-138, meaning, "to take for oneself"
= to seize; catch up or away; take by force; to claim for one’s self eagerly.
= indicates a certain or contemplated occurrence of an event which has NOT yet occurred; the subject (WE) (we, ourselves)
= hemeis {hay-mice’} are the recipient of the action; & it is a simple statement of fact.

1 Thessalonians 4:17
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. (KJV)

Acts 8:39
And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing. (KJV)

2 Corinthians 12:2-4
I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven. 3And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) 4How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter. (KJV)

Revelation 12:5
And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne. (KJV)

"Caught up" is not translated "rapture." The word "rapture" is not found in either the O.T. or the N.T. as a translation for either a Hebrew or a Greek scripture.

The word "rapture" is connected with an erroneous theory which teaches that SOME of the saved are going to be taken away from the earth SECRETLY and the rest of the population of earth will WONDER what has happened and where are these "missing ones" gone.

This false theory claims that this will occur BEFORE the "tribulation" period. These, they say, will ESCAPE the "great tribulation," the "mark of the beast," and the reign of the anti-Christ, called the man of sin or lawlessness.

This false theory requires more than ONE 2nd coming of Christ Jesus & says that Jesus is coming "FOR" His Church in the so called "rapture," and later He is coming "WITH" His Church back to earth to reign a literal 1,000 years in the earthly City of Jerusalem. NO WHERE DOES SCRIPTURE TEACH SUCH A THEORY! CONSIDER the following questions:

  1. Questions that cannot be answered scripturally about "the rapture." IF such a "theory" is true, answer these questions from scripture:
  1. Will there be a "resurrection of the dead" connected with this?

  2. Will these being "raptured" have a resurrected, changed body?

  3. Will those " being left behind" have an opportunity to be saved?

  4. How can such a "theory" be compatible (in harmony with) such scriptures as:

John 5:28-29
Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, 29And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation. (KJV)

John 6:39-40
And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. 40And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. (KJV)

John 6:44
No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. (KJV)

John 6:54
Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. (KJV)

John 11:24
Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. (KJV)

There will not be any more "days" AFTER the resurrection! And there is ONLY ONE bodily resurrection! It is called, "THE" resurrection = a specific & only one.

Matthew 24:29-31
Immediately after the tribulation
of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. (KJV)

Acts 1:9
And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. (KJV)

Acts 1:10-11
And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; 11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. (KJV)

Revelation 1:7
Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him
, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. (KJV)

Jesus is coming back just like He went away, IN CLOUDS and EVERY EYE shall see Him — even those who pierced Him!

There is nothing "SECRET" about His second coming! People are not going to be running around and wondering what has happened!

  1. The scriptures say that the RESURRECTION will occur BEFORE any of the LIVING will be changed or CAUGHT AWAY!

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto THE coming of the Lord shall not prevent (= precede or go before) them which are asleep. 16For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: (= an adverb, "firstly," which tells "when") 17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18Wherefore comfort one another with these words. (KJV)

This scripture is NOT about a " secret rapture," BUT it is an answer to the question of these living Christians about their saved kindred who had died.

The answer is that these will be RESURRECTED FIRSTLY before the living are "changed" and caught up. Those who have died in the Lord will be brought back to life (bodily resurrection from the graves) firstly (in order of events) and then, secondly, the living will be CHANGED into a new body, and thirdly(in order of events) BOTH, those who had died (lit. = having slept through) AND those who were living at the coming of the Lord, will be CAUGHT UP TOGETHER (neither will precede or go before the other!).

We, all who are saved, will RISE TO MEET THE LORD IN THE AIR, Not in earthly Jerusalem, and we will ALL & FOR ALWAYS be with Him!

  1. IF JESUS is going to reign a literal 1,000 years in earthly Jerusalem, SEE IF these questions can be answered by the scriptures:
  1. HOW could Jesus reign "forever" and still just reign a literal 1,000 years?

Luke 1:31-33
And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. 32He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: 33And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. (KJV)

  1. HOW could Jesus reign for a literal 1,000 years and at the end of this period Satan, the devil, come and "deceive all nations & gather them around the earthly city of Jerusalem?

Revelation 20:7-8
And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, 8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

  1. IF Jesus reigns in earthly Jerusalem for a literal 1,000 years, WOULD there be infants BORN? IF SO, will they be born saved or lost?

Ephesians 2:1-3
And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; 2Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: 3Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. (KJV)

John 3:5-7
Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

  1. IF these infants can be saved, then what would be the difference between then and now?

  2. Who will be reigning with Jesus on earth then? IF they are the saints, how will they all get into such a SMALL place as earthly Jerusalem?

  3. Compare this multitude and what Jesus says about the "tribulation."

Matthew 24:27-31
For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 28For wheresoever the carcass is, there will the eagles be gathered together. 29Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

Revelation 7:9-10
After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; 10And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb. (KJV)

Rev. 7:13-14
And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they? 14And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. (KJV)

2 Thessalonians 2:1-4
Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, 2That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
3Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. (KJV)

  1. When and How will these scriptures be fulfilled IF Jesus is to reign a thousand literal years on earth in Jerusalem?
  1. The man of sin described above in 2 Thess. 2:1-4 is to be destroyed at the coming of Jesus.

2 Thessalonians 2:8-9
And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: 9Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders—

  1. How will the "saved be raised up at the last day" as the scripture says 5 times as given in this study on page 50? (One is quoted here, see the others B.4.)

John 6:54
Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. (KJV)

  1. At what point at the end of the 1.000 years will the heavens & earth be burned up, completely dissolved? I have never heard any of those teaching the "rapture theory" say what is going to happen after this time! They leave it right there & never consider the multitude of other scriptures that MUST be fulfilled as follows:

2 Peter 3:10-14
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
11Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 12Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? 13Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. 14Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. (KJV)

Psalm 102:25-26
Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands. 26They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed:

{see Heb.1:10-12}

Isaiah 34:4
And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree. (KJV)

Isaiah 65:17-18
For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. 18But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy. (KJV)

(KJV)

Luke 21:25-28
And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; 26Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. 27And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. (KJV)

HOW is one going to "look up" after seeing these SIGNS? IF they have already been "caught away secretly?

Luke 21:25-28 fits in exactly with Acts 1:9-11:

Acts 1:9-11
And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. 10And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; 11Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. (KJV)

These scriptures above fit in exactly with Rev. 1:7: (True teaching does not contradict)

Revelation 1:7
Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen
.

Mark 13:24-27
But in those days, AFTER that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, 25And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken. 26And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. 27And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven. (KJV)

Isaiah 66:22
For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain. (KJV)

Mark 13:31
Heaven and earth shall pass away
: but my words shall not pass away. (KJV)
