Constitution

ARTICLE I: NAME OF THE ACADEMY .

Section 1 - Name.
The society shall be known as, The Academy for Educational History. 

Section II - Date of Formation.
The Academy for Educational History was formed in 2000.

 ARTICLE II - MAIN OBJECTIVES OF THE ACADEMY.

Section 1
The Academy's main goal is to create an international society for the study and discussion of various topics relating to educational history. 

Other objectives include but not limited to:

  • providing all members, the opportunity of meeting yearly in October;
  • presenting awards;
  • presenting educational research; and
  •  publishing via the internet a journal.

ARTICLE III - MEMBERSHIP

Section I - Fellow.
Individuals who are distinguished in their field of research and who are internationally known for their achievements in the field of educational history.  Applicants must possess a doctorate in educational history. Individuals must be proposed for this position. 

Section II - Associates.
Individuals who are currently members of educational community and who possess a doctorate in the field of education. 

An individual may also gain Associate Membership by -

  • being a professor, researcher or research scholar in education at an accredited University either in the States or abroad; or
  • being a research fellow or private researcher (with a graduate degree) specializing in the field of educational history. Individuals must be proposed for this position.

ARTICLE IV - DUTIES OF MEMBERS.

Unlike some other societies related to education, members regardless of their rank are expected to take an active part in the development of programs, the inviting of new members, conducting research, writing of journal articles, and actively support of the Academy through thought and deed.

 ARTICLE V - OFFICERS AND RANKS - THEIR FUNCTION

Section I - The President.
The President is the Head of the Academy. The President shall be responsible for the everyday operations of the Academy and shall act as the official voice of the Academy. i

Section II - The Vice President.
The Vice President serves in the absence of the President and performs all the duties and responsibilities to which the president is responsible.

Section III - The Secretary/Treasurer.
This position consists of two distinct responsibilities including the keeping of certain records, collecting minutes during the annual conference, collect donations  and maintaining applications which are to be copied and held in trust, the originals being forwarded to The Academy for Educational History -  Membership Committee.

ARTICLE VI - TERMS

The officers of The Academy for Educational History are appointed for a (3) three-year term.

 ARTICLE VII - THE FINANCES OF THE ACADEMY.

Section I
The Treasurer manages the properties of the Academy and its financial assets. He is assisted by members specializing in financial and estate management.

Section II
The resources of the Academy are mainly composed of  financial and/or other donations (whether from private donors and from charitable foundations), the proceeds of fund raising events and from the management of existing funds.

Section III
The financial liabilities and responsibilities of the Academy are limited to its wealth.

 ARTICLE VIII - THE CONSTITUTION OF THE ACADEMY.

Section I
This Constitution is the only Constitution for the Academy, and is valid for its entire organization.

Section II
The Constitution can be amended by by the Officers with the approval of the President.

Section III
This Constitution at the present time consists of eight articles.
